Will Lowkey work with my buzzer?
Lowkey works with any buzzer that calls a phone when someone buzzes your unit. Answer two quick questions to find out if that is your building.
When a visitor buzzes your unit, does your phone ring?
What is at your building's front door?
How we know
Lowkey is software, not hardware. It forwards the call your buzzer already places to your phone, and it can answer that call and open the building's front door for you automatically. So the one thing that matters is whether your buzzer dials out to a phone number when a visitor buzzes your unit.
Most apartment and condo buildings use a telephone-entry panel that does exactly that, which is why the quickest test is simply whether your phone rings today. Buildings with an old wired handset inside the unit, or a door that only opens with a key or fob, have no outbound call for Lowkey to work with.
Common questions
What kind of buzzer does Lowkey work with?
Any telephone-entry buzzer that places an outbound phone call to a resident when a visitor buzzes a unit, which covers most apartment and condo panels. If your phone already rings when someone buzzes you, Lowkey works.
What buzzers does Lowkey not work with?
Older wired intercoms that use a handset inside your apartment with no outbound call, because there is no phone call to forward. A door that only opens with a key or fob and never calls anyone is also outside what Lowkey does.
Does Lowkey work with video intercoms like ButterflyMX?
It coexists with managed systems like ButterflyMX as long as they can place a call to a phone number for your unit. If your building uses a camera and screen intercom, confirm it can dial a phone, and Lowkey can forward and automate that call.
